Bringing a wealth of industry and senior leadership experience to the firm, John focuses on advising the Highlander team on portfolio company strategy and operations. John has over 35 years of executive leadership in large organizations and focuses on developing high-performance executive management teams for the firm’s portfolio companies.

John joined Highlander Partners in 2010 as a Special Advisor. He became an Operating Partner of the firm in 2012.  Most recently, John served as Chief Executive Officer, President, and Director of ClubCorp, a leader in the private clubs industry with approximately $1.5 billion in assets. ClubCorp owns and operates nearly 170 golf courses, country clubs, private businesses, sports clubs and resorts.  While at ClubCorp, he led a turnaround effort resulting in a substantial improvement of the company’s performance and ClubCorp’s subsequent sale to KSL Capital Partners in 2006. He was recently appointed non-executive Chairman upon ClubCorp’s initial public offering in 2013. Prior to ClubCorp, John was President and Chief Operating Officer of Bristol Hotels & Resorts before its sale to Bass PLC in April 2000.  Bristol operated 110 hotels with approximately 30,000 rooms, including 90 Intercontinental Hotels Group branded hotels.
